Enzyme Finishing Defined
wet processes for textiles that employ enzymes that act as biological catalyst to achieve various effects. For example, cellulases are used to modify the aesthetics of cotton, viscose, and linen fabrics : proteases for degumming raw silk ; hydrolases in washing, degreasing, bleaching, and antifelting treatment of wool ; and alpha amylases for the bio-conversion of starch size.
